We would like to thank you for your generous support of Area Residential Care during our Giving Happiness fundraiser! Our agency is incredibly fortunate to have thoughtful donors and supporters like you. 2020 has been a year unlike any other and your support ensures that despite these uncertain times, those with disabilities living in our community will have access to quality care and services, empowering them to achieve their highest quality of life.
We are pleased to announce that we exceeded our fundraising goal of $2,500 - raising a total of $3,980. As we look ahead to our reopening of day hab services, we can set our consumers up for success.

To celebrate our 52nd anniversary we are hosting our first Giving Happiness 24-hour online fundraiser on August 20, 2020! This event is the perfect opportunity for Area Residential Care supporters to celebrate and give back to the agency. Our goal is to raise $2,500 during this event to support revamped day services programs for consumers as we get back to a “new normal.”
WHAT IS GIVING HAPPINESS?
Giving Happiness is an annual 24-hour online fundraising event that offers our community an opportunity to support Area Residential Care programming. We encourage everyone to give on this day!

On August 20, we will be sharing stories from Area Residential Care staff and consumers on our social media. We encourage our supporters to share these messages with friends, family and colleagues to help raise awareness of Area Residential Care’s mission.

HOW WILL MY GIVING HAPPINESS CONTRIBUTION MAKE AN IMPACT?
After being quarantined since March, our consumers and staff are looking forward to getting back to a “new normal." We are revamping our day services programming to help us adjust during this period, and we look forward to resuming field trips, art projects and fun fall activities.
Day services activities are great ways for those with intellectual disabilities to develop skills, take on new challenges, discover gifts they didn’t know they had, and foster relationships both within Area Residential Care and the community. Many of these activities offer life-changing inclusivity and create memories that last a lifetime. Area Residential Care consumers come from all walks of life, are eager to learn, yearning to make new friends and, most of all, be included in their communities.
We realize this cannot be done without your help. We ask you to consider sponsoring our “new normal” activities for one consumer or making a larger contribution to sponsor a group outing during our Giving Happiness event.
$10 sponsors lunch for one consumer.
$25 sponsors a week of art and activity materials for one group.
$50 sponsors two day trips for one consumer.
$100 sponsors one weekend of field trips to local fun fall events.
$250 sponsors a riverboat cruise on the mighty Mississippi.
$500 sponsors a day on the Four Mounds ropes course for day hab participants.
